Reviving Dhaka's Waterways for a Cleaner Future
Goal Covered
Over 100,000 residents call Housing Society Limited, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh their home, a polluted residential area with a significant water body that serves as a crucial drainage/culvert system for the community, ultimately connecting to a nearby river. The remarkable Morshed Mishu, a celebrated cartoonist, activist, and actor, and the visionary behind Morshed Mishu's Illustration. He embarked on a mission to rejuvenate this extensive water body as part of his ongoing project series, dedicated to cleansing the dirtiest corners of Dhaka city in Bangladesh and adorning 200 dirty walls with his art.
In this noble endeavor, Awareness 360 was honored to join hands with Morshed Mishu. With the unwavering support of dedicated volunteers, local residents, stakeholders, and the Dhaka North City Corporation, together we accomplished the monumental task of cleaning this vast culvert and embellishing the bridges that traverse it. This collaborative effort was carried out under the banner of the ‘খালে হবে’ (Khale hobe) Project, which aligns seamlessly with Awareness 360's ongoing projects in countries like Cameroon, Afghanistan, Georgia, Bangladesh, Nepal, and more, all with a laser focus on combatting climate change (Goal 13: Climate action).
The success of this initiative has left us inspired and motivated. We are committed to expanding our efforts to various parts of the city and eagerly anticipate your participation in this collective mission. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make a positive impact on our environment and community.
